DIY Tissue Pomander Tutorial

Tissue pomanders are so versatile; they dress up any bland party, and the beauty of them is that they come in so many different colours! They can be pricey at $4.99 for a small pack at a store like Party Packagers and you still have to struggle with assembly, and that can become tedious. My mother-in-law is an expert at making these tissue pomanders, so I have commissioned her to help with this tutorial! This tutorial is simple, cost effective, and fast.

Materials Needed: - Tissue Paper (get this at your local dollar store in a variety of colours to go with your theme) - Strong thread, bakers twine, bendy wire or any other string you might have lying around - Sharp Scissors Step 1: Open out 4 single sheets of tissue paper and stack them together (one on top of the other). Fold in half (lengthwise) and cut the folded side; you will now have 8 single sheets. Step 2 and step 3: Leaving the sheets as they are, start folding like how you would a fan. Refer to the photos in step 2 and 3. Step 4: Once you have your fan, use wire to secure the fan in the center (make sure that you tie is directly in the middle.

Step 5: Using a pair of sharp scissors, start cutting the edges of your fan in the shape of an arch. This will help the edges to appear softer and look more like a flower in your end result. Step 6 and step 7: Carefully start to open out your layers on each side, (upward and downward), to create your pomander, fluffing as you go. Step 8: End result; beautiful tissue pomanders Note: to make smaller pomanders, use the same 4 sheets of tissue paper, but fold in half and cut, then fold down once more in the opposite direction and cut again. Same procedure as above.
